ABOUT HUNTER

Statement:

I used to go through my day without bothering to appreciate the moments that didn't instantly spike my dopamine levels. That is my biggest regret. I paint to remind myself that any and every moment can be recollected as a precious memory, but this time, unconfined to the rules of the world we live in. Each painting I make contains its own world of laws, describing what is possible even far beyond what we see on the canvas. My paintings aren't meant to be just pretty, but tools to plant seeds in the heads of the viewers, which they in turn choose to nurture however they please.

Bio:

Originally based in New Jersey and currently studying at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Hunter Mulligan is a 19-year old painter who primarily uses oil paint to construct a unique feel with each piece. Inspired by animated film scenery, his works aim to capture not only the beauty in the little moments, but the tiny complexities many overlook in their day to day lives. As he continues to develop his craft, each past piece remains as a time capsule, bridging together his past interests, struggles, and motivations, whether those be within or outside the parameters of the artistic field.
